SEE TEAM: REQUIREMENTS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

  1. “SEE Team” status is granted by the Simulation Exploration Experience (SEE) organization following SEE’s favorable review of a SEE Team application.  SEE Team status is granted on an annual basis and Teams may request renewal annually.
  2. A SEE Team must consist of at least one university faculty advisor and at least one university student.
  3. Teams may join SEE as independent researchers, as a class project, as a university departmental project, or as an inter-departmental project.  Two or more groups from different universities may join SEE as a single Team if those separate groups wish to collaborate in that way.
  4. SEE simulations utilize the open modeling and simulation standard “HLA Evolved”, therefore Team Members must have a working knowledge of the computer programming languages C++ or JAVA.
  5. SEE Teams agree to use the HLA Evolved standard so each Team’s simulation(s) can interoperate with other Teams’ simulations.
  6. SEE Teams agree to support SEE’s goal of international STEM education using modeling and simulation by participating in SEE’s annual inter-university international simulation experience, either online (over the Internet) or in person.  The physical location of SEE’s annual event generally changes from year to year.  Emphasizing this important point:  on-site participation, thus incurring travel costs, is an option but not a requirement for SEE participation.
  7. SEE suggests that universities consider some credit towards a student’s degree based on the student’s achievements in SEE-related simulation work.  However, all such considerations shall be the exclusive purview of each student’s university.  SEE provides no guidance, accreditation, or any other item with regard to participants’ formal education.
  8. SEE may provide or assist to provide Teams’ access to modeling and simulation standards, documents, and related materials, which may include technical information and software.  Each Team must abide by the usage restrictions and licensing requirements of such items, including but not limited to software licenses.  The SEE organization shall not be a legal party to a Team’s use of third-party items.
  9. A Team may terminate its participation in SEE at any time by providing a written notice of termination to SEE’s Executive Chair.
  10. SEE may terminate a Team’s participation in SEE at any time if SEE’s Executive Chair determines that the Team’s participation does not meet SEE’s reasonable expectations of activity level or if the Team’s participation in SEE is detrimental to the SEE organization or mission.
  11. In all cases, the laws of the United States shall govern the decisions and actions of the SEE organization.
